birds of a feather, but one flies away

birds of a feather
The phrase “birds of a feather” refers to people who are very similar in character, background, or interests. It is typically used as a standalone descriptor (e.g., “they are birds of a feather”) or as shorthand for the full proverb, “birds of a feather flock together”.

Do you ever look back in life and get reminded of people who were once like a mirror of yourself? Those people who you feel you can say anything to, and there will be zero judgement? The ones who would drive to your house at 8pm just to say hi and sit with you for a bit? I certainly do. And although I look back on fond memories, I think often times these memories are double sided. There is the side of the rose coloured glass from which I often view people through, and there is the reality.

Sometimes we get burned by love, but it does not mean that love is not for us. Perhaps it just means that sometimes; space, time and growth are necessary factors in taking care of ones self. And in so doing, you can fly away from everything you have outgrown. It can be the most difficult thing, but believe me, it’s so liberating to fly.
